On the afternoon of November 30th in 2016, the Edge Computing Consortium (ECC) Advisory Committee was held in Beijing. 32 specialists and the ECC council members attended the meeting.
The ECC Advisory Committee Founding Meeting
Yu Haibin, chairman of the ECC, attended the meeting and expressed his congratulations on the founding, and spurred great hope for the future of the advisory committee. "The ECC's mission is to promote development of industry-related technical standards and architecture system, as well as implementation of industry applications, and advance the industry development, benefiting users across the industry. Against such a background, we expect specialists to propose their suggestions on the ECC's future, focus, and mode of operation. We hope they can garner a great deal of insight to push forward the ECC's development so as to provide a better technical basis for achieving the goal of smart manufacturing," said Yu.
Wang Tianran, vice director of the Advisory Committee gave a speech about the ECC's future development. Firstly, as manufacturing users want to shorten product lifecycle, improve product quality, and accelerate time-to-market (TTM), new demands are put on manufacturing technology. Meanwhile, rapid development of ICT provides strong technical support, promoting the growth of the edge computing technology. Secondly, the ECC has attracted 62 enterprises to join in from different fields. We must set active goals to inspire and motivate members to take initiative. Thirdly, he expects the ECC's development to advance self-innovation of China in the area of smart manufacturing.
